Brother MFC-9420CN

ตื่นเต้นครับ ไม่ค่อยไ้ด้จับของเล่นแบบนี้ multifunction ที่เป็น เลเซอร์สี

I have a chance to setup this colour laser multifunction machine for customer last week, so let’s see what I have found in this machine.

Brother MFC-9420CN มี Spec ตามหน้าเว็บ (ณ วันที่ 27 สิงหาคม 2550) ดังนี้

Here are the spec posted in Brother website (as of 27th Aug 2550)

แกะกล่องกันดีกว่า - กล่องใหญ่พอควรครับ ต้องแบกสองคน

วิีธีแกะกล่อง ต้องแกะกล่องตามวิธีบนฝากล่องครับ เพราะกล่องเค้ามีตัวยึดมาด้วย

Unpack There is an instruction on the top side flip.

ของที่แถมมาให้ในกล่อง (Carton Components)

หมึก (Toner Cartridges)

เปิดฝาด้านหน้าก็จะเห็นถาดหมึก 4 สี (C M Y K) ซึ่งถูกติดตั้งมาเรียบร้อยแล้ว เพียงแต่เราจะต้องดึงเทปสีส้มที่ปิดถาดหมึกออกให้ครบทุกสี ก่อนใช้งานนะครับ

Four(4) toners cartridges (C M Y K) have been installed from factory. You just remove the orange cover tape from all cartridges.

OPC Belt cartridge

OPC ย่อมาจากอะไรก็ไม่รู้ แต่เจ้าชิ้นส่วนนี้ทำหน้าที่เกี่ยวกับการ scan นั่นเอง เค้าจะแยกมาให้ในกล่อง เราต้องทำการติดตั้งเอง โดยเปิดฝาด้านบนขึ้น และเปิดฝาชั้นต่อมาก็จะเห็นช่องใส่ OPC Belt cartridge นี้ เช่นเคยก็ต้องดึงเทปออกให้หมด

OPC uses for scanning jobs. You have open the cover beneath the flatbed and install this OPC.

ช่องต่อ (Interfaces)

ช่องต่อมีมาให้ทั้งหมด 3 ประเภท คือ USB, Parallel และ ชอบที่สุดคือ Ethernet (LAN) และด้านล่างก็จะเป็นช่องสำหรับเสียบสายโทรศัพท์ (Ext. และ Line โดยให้เสียบสายจากตู้สาขาที่ช่อง Line ส่วน Ext. มีไว้ให้เสียบสายไปยังเครื่องโทรศัพท์ที่ต้องการพ่วงใช้)

There are 3 interfaces; USB, Parallel and Ethernet (I love this one :laugh:). Moreover, there are 2 telephone line interfaces for fax service.

Memory

รุ่นนี้สามารถใส่ memory เพิ่มเข้าไปได้้ด้วยนะครับ ใส่เพิ่มได้สูงสุดประมาณ 512 MB ครับ แต่ต้อง check part number ดีๆนะครับ

วิธีใส่ตามคู่มือ ก็คือให้ปิดไฟ ถอดสายทุกอย่างออกให้หมด แล้วทำการเปิดฝาข้างด้านซ้าย เปิดมาจะเห็นบอร์ดอยู่ ให้ทำการนำ RAM ใส่เข้าไปตรงบริเวณสล็อต (ที่ตีกรอบสีแดงไว้) โดยอย่าไปสัมผัสส่วนใด เพราะไฟฟ้าสถิตย์ (ESD) จากตัวเราอาจจะทำให้เครื่องพังได้ (พวกคนไฟแรงต้องระวังนะครับ)

This machine allow you to upgrade memory to 576 MB maximum (64 MB + 512 MB). Just open left side cover and put extra RAM into slot (in the red square). Ensure that you have unplugged all power cable.

ปุ่มกด (Front panel)

หลักๆก็จะมีปุ่มเลือก function “Fax, Copy, Scan” ส่วน Print ไม่ต้องเลือกนะครับ เพราะว่ามันจะทำงานอัตโนมัติอยู่แล้ว

Software & Driver

ก็จะมีเป็น MFC suite มาให้ติดตั้งซึ่งจะเป็นไดรเวอร์ และซอฟต์แวร์ scansoft (ดูแลเรื่องสแกน), control center (ดูแลเรื่องเครื่อง) ก็เพียงแต่ใส่แผ่นแล้ว click เลือกตามที่ใจต้องการไปเรื่อยๆก็เสร็จครับ ไม่ยุ่งยากอะไร :smile:

Just insert CD into your PC, and click next and next. And you will got driver and software (scansoft for scanning jobs and control center for machine management).

ทดลองใช้งานเบื้องต้น

  • Print - สีสรรออกมาสวยงามตามสไตล์เลเซอร์ แต่เสียงดังใช้ได้เลยครับ น่าจะเป็นช่วงเวลาที่ทำการเปลี่ยนถาดสีอะครับ
  • Scan - ที่ผมทดลองใช้ software scansoft ที่ให้มาพร้อมกัีบเครื่องครับ ก็มีให้เลือกรูปแบบหลากหลายดี สามารถ feed หลายๆแผ่นเข้าไป scan ได้ ก็สะดวกดีครับ
  • Fax - ยังไม่ได้ลองเลย ไม่แน่ใจว่าเป็นเหมือนรุ่นเล็กอย่าง MFC7420 รึเปล่า ที่ว่าเวลา set เป็น manual fax นั้นจะต้องต่อโทรศัพท์ไว้ด้วย เพื่อเวลามี fax เ้ข้าจะต้องยกหูโทรศัพท์แล้วกด *51 เพื่อรับ fax
  • Copy - สำเนาสีสรรชัดเจนใช้ได้ปกติดี ผมเองก็ไม่มีเครื่องมือทดสอบอะไร แต่อาศัยให้เจ้าของเครื่องดูคุณภาพ เค้าก็รับได้ (อาจจะเพราะว่าเครื่องเก่าเป็น inkjet ก็ได้นะ อุอุ :cool: )

Roughly test result

  • Print - Good with colour laser quality but a bit loud (I think when it change toner cartridge).
  • Scan - quite easy with scansoft and you can use ADF (feeder) when you have multiple pages source.
  • Fax - I haven’t tried it yet.
  • Copy - I have no test equipment but from customer satisfactory test, he said I’m OK. (But his ex-machine is just inkjet :nerd: )
