อาทิตย์ก่อนได้มีโอกาสติดตั้ง Windows XP ให้กับโน๊ตบุ๊คของลูกค้าครับ ซึ่งนานมากแล้วที่ผมไม่ได้เล่นกับโน๊ตบุ๊ค Fujitsu ลองมาดูกันครับว่าผมเจออะไรบ้าง

Last week I have to installed Windows XP on my customer’s Laptop. This is my first time with Fujitsu laptop, let’s see what I have found.

สิ่งที่แตกต่างจากโน๊ตบุ๊คยี่ห้ออื่น ก็คือ Fujitsu จะแถมให้ทั้งแผ่นโปรแกรม, แผ่นไดรเวอร์ และแผ่น recovery มาให้ ถึงแม้ว่าจะเป็นแผ่นสำหรับ Windows Vista ก็เถอะ อย่างน้อยก็ช่วยลดเวลาให้ผู้ใ้ช้ไม่ต้องมาสร้างแผ่น Vista recovery เรื่องนี้ขอยกนิ้วให้ครับ [aup]

Unlike other brands, I love the way they provide driver, recovery DVD eventhough they are all Windows Vista.

และนี่คือขั้นตอนคร่าวๆในกาิรติดตั้ง Windows XP ครับ

1) ดาวน์โหลดไดรเวอร์ทั้งจากเว็บไซต์นี้
2) เตรียมแผ่น floppy disk ที่มีไดรเวอร์ ICH-8 E/M Sata ไว้ให้เรียบร้อยครับ เพราะว่าแผ่นติดตั้ง Windows XP จะไม่มีไดรเวอร์ Sata มาให้
3) หลังจากเครื่องเริ่ม boot จากแผ่น CD และอยู่ในช่วง investigating ให้กด F6 เพื่อทำการโหลด driver Sata
4) เลือก ICH-8 E/M แล้วทำตามขั้นตอน
5) เืมื่อติดตั้ง Windows XP เรียบร้อยแล้ว คุณควรจะติดตั้งไดรเวอร์สำหรับ Chipset เป็นอันดับแรก ตามด้วยไดรเวอร์ graphic และไดรเวอร์ที่เหลือทั้งหมดครับ
6) เพียงเท่านี้ คุณก็จะได้ S6410 ที่มี Windows XP ติดตั้งอยู่

Here are what I have done when install Windows XP on this box.

1) Download all required drivers from here.
2) Prepare ICH-8 E/M Sata Floppy disk, because Windows XP CD doesn’t have sata driver.
3) Press F6 to load SATA/SCSI driver during Windows XP CD start investigating your PC.
4) Select ICH-8 E/M driver and following step
5) After Windows XP has been installed on your S6410, you should start install chipset driver then Intel graphics driver and the rest.
6) Enjoy XP….

ข้อสังเกต:

ผมแนะนำให้ใช้ไดรเวอร์ graphic จาก Intel.

หลังจากติดตั้งไดรเวอร์ครบทุกตัวแล้ว หากคุณยังพบ unknow device ใน device manager ให้ลองติดตั้งไดรเวอร์ Fujitsu System Utility (FUJ02E3) and Fujitsu Power Saving Utility แบบ manual ดูนะครับ

Notes:

I recommend you to use graphic driver from Intel.

When you see unknow device in device manager, you should try to install these two drivers (Fujitsu System Utility (FUJ02E3) and Fujitsu Power Saving Utility manually).
